The Mount Lewis Snotel site and others like it measure snow pack and precipitation in key areas throughout Nevada and the United States. The Lander County Conservation District along with the financial help of Cortez Mine and the Eureka Conservation District funded the Snotel site on Mount Lewis, just outside of Battle Mountain. The Natural Resource and Conservation Service installed the site and will maintain all the Snotel Equipment and record all data.
