 2003 COST SHARE PROGRAMS

 At the Districts last meeting the Supervisors budgeted money to establish the 2003 Range Improvement Cost Share Program in addition to the 2003 Noxious Weed Control Cost Share Program. Flyers regarding both programs have went out in the mail, however if you missed your copies - let's recap. If you have any questions regarding either program please call our office (775) 635-5565.

2003 Range Improvement Cost Share Program

Who is eligible?
Agriculture producers with operations in Lander County utilizing private land; owned or leased.
What is available?
—Cash grants up to $500. Lander County Conservation District (LCCD) will refund up to 50% not to exceed $500 per project for contract labor and/or materials for installation of new range or pasture improvements such as: pasture division fences, boundary fences, water developments and associated structures, and seeding projects.
—Projects that do not qualify include: corrals, chutes, buildings, roads, or trails.
When will this happen?
—May 1, 2003 through April 30, 2004, or until the allocated funds are exhausted.
—Application processed first come-first served with a limit of one application per ranch or farm unit through September 1, 2003. Thereafter funds for projects which qualify will be awarded in the order the application was received until the allocated funds are exhausted.
—Payment will be made immediately upon submission of receipts and the Report of Project Completion verifying the project was built or installed to specified standards.
Where?
—Project must be built or installed on lands within Lander County, Nevada.
Construction Standards:
—Projects built or installed on private lands must comply with the standards for that type of project set by NRCS.
Application:
—Complete the application for a cost share grant and return grant applications to the Lander County Conservation District, 815 North 2nd Street, Battle Mountain, NV 89820.
—Final decision as to whether any specific project qualifies for this program rests exclusively with the LCCD Board of Supervisors.
—Report of Project Completion is supplied on the reverse of this flier must be submitted prior to payment.
            Application and Report of Project Completion must be signed by applicant and attached with receipts for contract labor and/or materials.

2003 Noxious Weed Control Cost Share Program

Who is eligible?
—Agriculture producers with operations in Lander County utilizing private land; owned or leased.
What is available?
—Cash grants up to $500. Lander County Conservation District (LCCD) will refund up to 50% of the purchase price, up to $500, for herbicide used in the control of any of the noxious weed species listed below.

Knapweeds, (Russian, squarrose, spotted, diffuse), Tall whitetop, Hoary cress (whitetop,) Tamerisk (salt cedar),
Musk thistle, Scotch thistle, Canada Thistle

—50% discount on the use of the pickup mount slide-in sprayer owned by LCCD when used for spraying any of the weed species listed above (regular fee is $50 per day)
When will this happen?
—May 1 through November 30, 2003.
—Application deadline for cost-share: November 1, 2003.
—Cost-share applications will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
—Payment will be made immediately upon submission of receipts by the participant.
—Sprayer can be reserved at anytime for use beginning May 1, 2003.
Where?
—Herbicides and sprayer must be used only in Lander County, Nevada for control of any of the specified weed species.
Cost Share Report
—Report on application and estimated kill are required by November 30, 2003.
Sprayer Use
—Use of sprayer other than for spraying weeds listed is not subject to the 50% discount.
—$100 refundable deposit required.
—Complete User Agreement prior to taking equipment from LCCD location. (Agreement available upon request at LCCD office).
—The sprayer will be picked up and returned to the LCCD office by the user, unless prior arrangements have been made.
Application
—Complete the application for a cost share grant and/or sprayer use and return grant applications to the Lander County Conservation District, 815 North 2nd Street, Battle Mountain, NV 89820. Sprayer reservation for this program can be made beginning May 1, 2003.
