	*Musk Thistle* *Alias: Carduss nutans* Distinguishing features: (information taken from "Weeds of the West," Revised, 1992) Plant can grow up to six feet tall. Leaves are dark green with light green midrib, deeply lobed, and spiny margined. Leaves have a winged appearance. Flower heads are solitary and usually bent over. Flowers are deep rose, violet or purple (sometimes white), 1 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter. They are subtended by broad, spine-tipped bracts. Seeds are 3/16 inch long, shiny, yellow-brown with white hair-like fibers.
