Hoary Cress
Alias: Cardaria draba

Distinguishing features:
(information taken from "Weeds of the West," Revised, 1992)

  • Deep rooted periennial growing up to 2 feet tall.
  • Leaves are blue-green and lance-shaped.
  • Lower leaves are stalked while the upper leaves have two lobes clasping the stem.
  • Flowering consist of many small white flowers with four petals and form small clusters at the top of each stalk giving the appearance of a flat-top.
  • By mid-summer plants have bloomed and set seed.
  • Heart-shaped seed capsules contain two reddish-brown seeds.
